As the half-year mark for HeroesCon, Charlotte Mini-Con has quickly become an annual event for the garrison! This year's convention featured vintage comics/collectibles dealers, creators, and artists, and attracted hundreds of attendees. Our exhibit of props and sets, featuring Imperial, Mandalorian, and Rebel display pieces, was a hit with con-goers, who also enjoyed interacting with and taking photos of all our costumed members.

Charlotte Comicon is a single-day show that is held three times per year, typically in the Spring, late Summer, and early Winter, and has been an annual event for the garrison since it first began in 2002. The con's main focus is on the artists, writers, and creative forces behind comics, and is always glad for the Imperial presence that the garrison brings, along with our colleagues of the Rebel Legion, the Droid Builders, and the Mandalorian Mercs. This year's Winter show saw a record presence of troopers, Mandos, droids, and Rebels, and our members were as always a big hit with con attendees!

The Charlotte Knights MiLB team once again hosted their annual Star Wars Knight, playing against the Norfolk Tide! Joined by members of the Rebel Legion, the Droid Builders, and the Mandalorian Mercs, our troopers once again brought a solid Imperial presence to the evening's events, and enjoyed meeting/taking photos with hundreds of Star Wars fans both young and old.

Members of the Carolina Garrison, Blue Ridge Base of the Rebel Legion, and the Droid Builders brought a strong Star Wars presence to add atmosphere to a showing of "The Last Jedi" at DiGiorgio Student Union at Winthrop University! Our brave troopers, Rebel Princess, and R2 unit posed for numerous photos with both movie-goers and other students at the union, and were well received by everyone at the movie and other areas of the student union.

The Carolina Garrison, joined by members of our sister group Blue Ridge Base of the Rebel Legion, once again brought a strong Imperial and Rebel presence to the Charlotte St. Patrick's Day Parade! This has become an annual event for the garrison, and we had a solid turnout of members of both groups (plus a mouse droid from the Droid Builders). Group members interacted with the crowd and other parade participants, and were well received by everyone at the parade. A great time was has by all, and we look forward to being back next year!

Description of Event: Mad Monster Party is a Horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy themed convention that brings the world's top genre celebrities and vendors together with their fans to trade stories, attend informative panels, buy autographs and fun merchandise and visit with old friends - and meet new like minded monsters. Description of Event: After a year’s break, the garrison is back in force at the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Garrison members joined over 100 other entrants to march in this annual holiday parade through the streets of downtown Charlotte. In addition, several members braved an early-morning call to be part of the TV promotion for WCCB’s “Wilson’s World” showcasing the parade and featuring our group. A huge thanks to all the garrison members who made this event a success!

Description of Event: Another annual fun favorite for garrison members, this is an Academy Awards event held every year at Raleighwood, and features a large-screen viewing of the Awards event, contests, and red-carpet “celebrities” (including our garrison members!). While no direct charitable funds are raised at this event, Raleighwood always showcases the garrison’s charity work, and encourages patrons to donate to Make-A-Wish or other charities of choice.

Members of the Carolina Garrison teamed up with local superheroes to help promote a holiday Toys for Tots drive at the Toys R Us in Gastonia! Both Imperials and Rebels were on hand to meet and greet with store visitors and pose for photos, as well as visit with a local Make-A-Wish child brought to the event. Area Marines collected and gathered numerous toys at the event to distribute to children in need and make sure they had a happy holiday!

An Imperial presence was requested for a surprise appearance at the holiday lunch of one of the corporate departments supporting the Carolina Panthers, and several Carolina Garrison troopers stepped up to answer the call! Darth Vader, accompanied by two stormtroopers, presented the department's gift to their team leader on their behalf, and stayed long enough to sing and wish them all a Merry Christmas. We hope to be able to join the Panthers for future events!

Both troopers and Rebels were out in full force to meet and greet with the crowd, pose for photos, and add atmosphere to the days events. As always, the Checkers were very glad to have us in attendance, and have promised to have us back for next year!

This June, the Carolina Garrison returned to one of its keynote annual events, HeroesCon, in Charlotte, NC! HeroesCon is one of the largest and fastest-growing comic book conventions in the region, and while this year’s appearance was more scaled back than in years past, it was still very well received and visited by convention guests as we brought a solid Imperial presence to the event. The garrison booth this year included the Death Star wall backdrop for photo ops with our members, an exhibit showcasing a variety of 501st and other Star Wars costumes, a helmet and props display, handouts and flyers for visitors, and the garrison’s own R2-KT, complete with her own display featuring photos and information about her exciting career. Troopers were once again sent out on patrol throughout the convention searching for droids in the Droid Hunt, and the raffle at the end of the day drew a huge crowd to the booth. While this was a smaller, rebuilding year for us, plans are already in the works for a much larger appearance at the convention next year as we will be celebrating the garrison’s 15th anniversary, and the Legion’s 20th. A huge thanks to the planning crew who helped make this a successful event for us, and to all the troopers who came out to support it!

Collected donations for Make-A-Wish at our table; a total of $370.40 was raised.

Set-up began at 10 am on Thursday, June 16, and ended at 8 pm that day. The convention itself started at 11:00 am on Friday, with our table crew arriving about 8:30 am, and the convention ended at 7 pm. On Saturday, the convention started at 10, with our crew again arriving early to be ready to go, and ended at 6:00 pm; Sunday's hours were similar, with the con starting at 10:00 am and officially ending at 6 (with the exhibit crew staying later to help break down our display).

The Carolina Garrison got an early start to May the 4th activities by bringing an Imperial presences to the Charlotte Knights baseball team Star Wars Knight! Joined by Rebel Legion members from Blue Ridge Base and several Mandalorian Mercs, various Imperial, Rebel, and Mandalorian characters greeted and posed for pictures with thousands of excited baseball fans as they came through the stadium gates. Kylo Ren jumped into the Royalty Race, and Rey was caught on the KissCam with the Knights' own Homer the Dragon! This was our third appearance with the Knights, and we hope to be back next year!
