Finally building a New Costume!
After far too long I am going to add a new costume to my 501st line up! I know, shocking right? I am going to be making a much better and more accurate version of my very first 501st costume from back in the before times, and Original Trilogy Line Officer (Olive Uniform). I've also decided, because I am a glutton for punishment apparently, that I am going to aim for Level 3 (Imperator on the IOC forums) status! I will keep everyone updated on the progress and submit to th. GML for approval as soon as it is finished!

Yes. I know I said I would get the photos posted last night. I am having trouble transferring them from my cell to my laptop. I should have them up soon.

May 4 Star Wars Day Discovery Place Charlotte NC
May the Fourth, Intergalactic Star Wars Day. This year the Carolina Garrison was invited out to The Discovery Place in Charlotte to participate in their Star Wars Day celebrations as they explained the science of Star Wars. Visitors built their own lightsabers, watch and participated in Sub Zero: Hoth Edition demonstrating the effects of sub zero temperatures, and Fire It Up: Alderaan where Darth Vader himself blew up Leia's home world. The troops also experimented with a bed of nails, flying with air pressure, tug of war with various pulley systems, and a sonic cannon. Over a dozen troopers were on hand to help in the demos, take pictures with the crowd, and lead the costume parade. Visitors, both kids and adults, showed up in their finest Star Wars costumes and apparel.

May 2 Relay-for-Life Forestview Highschool (Gastonia)
Members of the Carolina Garrison were deployed to Forestview High. School to help support their annual Relay For Life event. Individual walkers and teams from the surrounding area came to walk to raise money for cancer research. Troopers were on hand to take photos with the walkers and show support. One of the teams set up a charity jail to help raise money. A dollar the "arrest" someone, a dollar to bail them out. Many of our troops got involved in the effort, even volunteering to be thrown in the jail.

April 26 - Shakespeare's Intergalactic Renaissance Fair
Members of the Carolina Garrison joined Lincolnton library in their celebration of William Shakespeare's 450th birthday. To mark the final day of their celebration, they hosted the 1st annual Shakespeare's Intergalactic Renaissance Fair. Activities included bowling for storm troopers, palm reading, a demonstration by the SCA, a costume contest, and a reading from a few scenes of William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily A New Hope. Garrison members were on hand to take pictures with guests and staff. We also judged the children's and adults costume contest. Winners were given a prize pack of Star Wars goodies. The event was so successful that we have been in invited back to take part in their 2nd annual Shakespeare's intergalactic Renaissance Festival.

(NC) TX Roadhouse March 25
Imperial Forces invaded the Texas Roadhouse in Gastonia on March 25th for their second annual Kid's Night. All the restaurant patrons and staff were excited to see us. Many of the children dressed in Star Wars costumes and apparel for the occasion. The restaurant was packed to capacity, and it certainly proved interesting to not be underfoot of the waitstaff. There were a ton of photo ops, both for our own amusement as well as for patrons, lots of smiling faces, and even some line dancing. We even commandeered the owner's new pickup truck for use as our Imperial shuttle (and only the wrangler fell off the back of the truck!). Needless to say, for only a two hour troop, this was certainly as much fun as an all day event.
