Hey, peeps. There's a feller out in Raleigh needing help with his costume, but he's having difficulty accessing the forums and has asked for assistance via the 501st Pathfinders forum. Can you verify if username "Hossmaz" is good-to-go on here? If not, what can I relay to him?
Thanks!

Re: TK Fully Assembled Ready To Wear Costume?
Toad, where do you live? I'm actually looking forward to having armor parties with my buddy, who is also looking at getting involved. Something cool about getting together, tippin a few back, and watching each other's costumes come to life. And it's always nice to hae an extra set of hands and eyes.

Re: New Scout In-Progress
Whaddup, FanDam! Great to be here and good to see you again, for sure. I'm looking forward to this. I'm taking the youngns to the Shelby ComicCon this weekend for their first cosplay adventure (my three daughters are ages 6, 9, and 10 and they all have various Star Wars and superhero Halloween costumes). They're gonna beat me to the punch, lol.

Re: New Scout In-Progress
Ok, thanks. I was thinking that perhaps it would be smart for me to attend some events as a civilian, perhaps with an offficial handler present, in order to observe the protocol and watch the troopers. Kinda like some field training and familiarization before jumping in and fumbling around like an idiot.

Trackin, thanks.
What's the protocol for meeting up at these events? Is there a "mission leader" that tracks Garrison attendance or organizes the rally point?

Re: Need Help-I’m A Non-501st Member
Not much, so far. Only $250 and that got me the boots and a cummerbund piece with the pouches. I'm eyeballin some soft goods next. It appears I'll be spending around $1500 roughly on a complete kit. I'm selling an extra shotgun tomorrow to fund the armor, lol. It seems shockingly expensive to bust into this hobby at first glance, but after I started doing the math, it ends up being cheaper than my other hobbies. frell, I'm about $2500 into the X-wing tabletop miniatures game and I don't even have the two newest waves. Lolol. That's what decided the issue for me in the first place: once you get a complete kit, the recurring cost is low to continue this adventure.pjtoadie wrote:How much money are you into your Scout costume? Re: New Scout In-Progress
Thanks for the welcome. Is there a running list of upcoming events somewhere; perhaps on social media or whatnot? I'd like to start keeping an eye out and getting the calendar synch'd.

The Jawa idea, the "short stormtrooper" quote, Ewoks, droids, all of it. Lmao. I know they're Rebels, but Pao or Bistan would be awesome costumes too.pjtoadie wrote:Lol, was it the Jawa comment that you can have fun with?

There's so much fun to be had here. Lol But I'll leave it alone.
I ran into the same problem recently. I'm such a freak about Star Wars I was like cI wanna be EVERYBODY!" But alas, my wallet says "Negative, Ghostrider." I fell back on the character I have always thought was the coolest ever since I saw them in the theater in 1985. We called them "speeder bikers" when I was a kid and since that all I do is ride my own speeder bike these days, it seemed a natural first costume. And yes, when it's complete, I *will* ride around town in costume and I *will* get pulled for an improper helmet. Lmao
Moral of my story: do what you want, have maximum fun, and to Hades with the consequences.
