Forearms are drying now, and then it's time to start the application I think.

Re: Jawa build help

Not a Jawa, however we just made two for my 7yr old and 5 yr old daughters. Hardest part was finding the fabric to use, we ended up ordering it and having it shipped to the house. Krayt Clan has some great threads with patterns, and DIY for the mask and eyes.

Re: TD Build Thread

Progress is moving along... :sandtroopero: Did a fit test this evening to see where I'm having issues.

1. Not sure how to fix the right side of the butt plate as it sticks out

2. the side seam between the kidney plate and AB plate isn't sitting well with the 3 rivet strap assembly, one end seems to be sagging, any tricks for fixing that would be greatly appreciated. (not pictured, but I can get one up if guys aren't sure what I"m talking about)

Pics below: Any comments greatly appreciated! (DISCLAIMER: I dressed myself, only thing I couldn't snap was the groin strap *hanging in pics) :D

Re: TD Build Thread

Buttons would be much appreciated! Is there a required return edge on the AB and kidney plate where they will join together? I've got a heat iron now, so it's not an impossible task. Alot of this build is just me being lazy, which is why I'm hoping to get to a build party for the final push motivation, last weekends with Kenneth would've been great, just work got in the way. Thanks for the help.

TD Build Thread

This has been a rework in progress, and I feel like I'm nearing the home stretch before weathering. Looking for basic approval, so not too worried about MEPD SWAT with this build. Below are some WIP pictures, any feedback is appreciated.

The room... :sandtroopero:

Helmet WIP...looking forward to a fan bracket and then installing the UK hearing assist system:

Legs... Need cover strips on both rear thighs:

Chest and Back assembled:

AB/Kidney plate...Looking for confirmation I'm on the correct path, intending to trim the excess ABS from the outside edge of both paint masking tape lines (roughly 2") which will adjust fitting better as it was originally too large and was joined with a cover strip on the inside (I plan on using the 6 rivets with 1" non-roll elastic).

AB Belt needs button covers over the three rivets, and the Three button panel is getting removed and replaced with a properly sized Three button:

Re: Build Party

Labor Day weekend is coming up, I know I'll have that Friday to Monday off, I'd be willing to host at my house and is a central point between Charlotte and Raleigh here in Pinehurst if that makes travel easy for guys coming to help out. I won't have a shop quite like you've got, but i've got tools needed for armor construction, and a garage with folding tables.

If you plan on trying again in Sep, I should have more free time on the weekends and would be willing to travel to the shop if you host another as well.

Re: Blackhole/Shadow Trooper Child's Armor

Walt is a stand up guy. I followed him on Facebook, and sure enough he's quick to respond and very helpful. I plan on getting my oldest a kids TD build from Walt here in the future, once I finally finish my build :sandtroopero:

Re: ABS plastic help

Thanks for the response, I'm gonna check out hobby lobby and my local WH40k/scale model hobby shop tomorrow. I also emailed the armor wizard who made my kit to see about possibly purchasing some ABS from him, so hopefully it works out.

ABS plastic help

Been searching whitearmor and google with no success, figured I'd post something in the local garrison and hopefully have better luck. I'm looking to finish a TD that was already started, however I need new cover strips for the back of the thighs as well as the rivet covers on the belt. Is there any online retailer besides Trooperbay that sells ABS plastic, or does somebody have a good online retailer that they could point me to as well as letting me know the correct type, size(thickness) of ABS to purchase. All help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Build Party

I'd be interested in attending, depending on work. I'm located in Pinehurst so it's not too bad of a drive. I'm reworking a TD :sandtroopero: and need help with the legs (specifically replacing the ABS cover strips on the back of the thighs, and repairing the Calf velcro), and more importantly, I need help sizing and fitting this properly so I can hopefully get CRL approved sooner rather than later.

Re: Pinehurst new guy

That looks great so far, very clean paint too. I got mine prebuilt, a member on FISD was parting with one complete for $250 shipped so I just went ahead and grabbed it. I've been in contact with AM2.0 and AP about armor, so when I finally pull the trigger it'll end up being one of those two most likely. I'll probably end up jumping right into a sandy as well. With the ATA bucket I currently have on hand I've already started brainstorming what I want to do to the inside regarding black paint, fans, voice mic, hearing assist etc. But I've got nothing but time here in the near future, since I'll be out of town a few months it gives me a lot of time to web research and acquire pieces. :sandtroopero:

Re: Pinehurst new guy

Sandtroopers have been my favorite since I was a kid, so naturally I've been gravitating towards that in this costuming world. Just got my first ATA helmet from the FISD forum last week, I can't wait to get my armor in once I get back stateside post next trip. Might use the extra helmet as the Guinea pig for the sandtrooper leap of faith.
