I can't remember exactly but I think he told me his TK kits were $830+. His stuff is very good and he is held in high regard, I'd say his stuff is fairly mid-range in terms of price. Occasionally an ATA kit or another approvable suit will be sold on Ebay, but you have to be very careful as the vast majority of listings are complete garbage, either recasts or fakes.werdboync wrote:Do you know anything about Mike Gordon TK1336?

Re: Brand new...help!
Hi Drew. Hope you are finding everything you need.
A good place to check out is Walt's Trooper Factory on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/waltstrooperfactory/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He does a variety of approvable costumes and kits. I think (not completely sure) that his TK kit is $650-$750 which is low-end. ATA armour is $511 or so but the waiting list is very long (year to year and a half).

Re: Event Discussion Issues
I am in the Clemson area in South Carolina. So Greenville, Columbia, Easley, and Spartanburg are all in reach. So essentially all of Upstate SC is doable.xapologiesx wrote:What part of the Garrison do you live in? There really isn't a notification system, but your best bet would be to get to know some members in your area and stay in touch with them about events.
-Edit- I will be at the G'Ville ComiCon on Saturday as a TK with a 501st buddy of mine, Teddy Hatcher he isn't planning on running with the main group at least not at first. I just don't want to just show up out of the blue without coordinating to talking to people doing events in my area.

Event Discussion Issues
Hello all. I've been lurking around the forums off and on for a couple months now while I have been getting my 501st TK suit together. I am almost 17 and not able to join the 501st yet, however I have been told that I can troop alongside the garrison at events. I was told I would be notified about events in my area and this has not happened, as the section of forums which covers event discussion is closed to non-members. I completely understand this and the need to keep things under wraps.
Is there a better way I can get information on getting involved in the 501st or to participate in troops?
Thanks.

I am in the Clemson area as well. I also have a friend in Greenville who has a Vader suit who could join us. Do we have a date?

ATA looks great and is very affordable as its says but I don't know if I am up for waiting a year.Brinkco wrote:I feel for you man, it always sucks up get duped, but at least you found out early on before you put too much work into it. It should still make for a killer display piece.Lion wrote:Thanks for the response. The armor I have at present is a re-cast done by "Maker of Things" who is on the no-go list. We have only casted the helmet and the ear pieces from molds of the MoT armor, and we are already planning to get either RS Props, ATA, or Troopermaster and to scrap the project, although we plan to finish out the helmet as a display item. Research before you buy I suppose.Brinkco wrote:Welcome, it's good to see another beginner around here.![]()
Curious about your armor though, are the molds you've made based off of the eBay suit you bought, or of something else? Many of those eBay vendors are recasters, meaning they made their own molds of someone else's molds without their permission,( or maybe even copied from someone who did that). I'm no expert, but some of the staff here like CantinaSecurity and those on the FISD forum (whitearmor.net) can get you on the right path.![]()
Welcome aboard and never be afraid to ask for help.
As for armor, I'd go with ATA.

Future 501st Hopeful
Howdy folks. Hope you guys are safe, warm and indoors during this bit of wintry weather. I've been lurking around the forums for a while and the stuff you guys do and the dedication you have is awesome and inspiring. I live in Upstate SC (Clemson area). Over the past few months my interest in imperial/Star Wars costuming has grown and I began looking about for a decent and accurate TK suit that wouldn't break the bank. Before I did the proper research I got a cheap set (soft-pull on plastic) from one of the sellers on Ebay who is on the "Stay away" list. A buddy of mine who should also be registering soon is helping me with the project now, and we have made molds for fiberglass casting which we have completed for the helmet. From there we sand it down and apply bondo for the blemishes. I wanted to know whether or not this method is acceptable to the 501st, so long as the final product is accurate in terms of shape and dimensions. We just don't want to spend all the money on fiberglass just to be turned down later on. I have contact with ATA and TK-1336 (AP Armor) and I have prices and ordering info so I am ready to get other armor just in case. Unfortunately I am about a year and a couple months underage for the 501st, but I am planning to get my suit to standard and do a couple things on my own before I can join. I might come to an event out of armor sometime to meet you guys.
Hope to join you guys soon!
