Pack 89 has a lot of military families, so this was an important event for many of the scouts who have a parent that is deployed most of the time (the banquet was planned for when the most parents could be there). We hid in the kitchen while the scouts and their families assembled outside. The scouts have had some Star Wars related activities lately and knew that the theme of the banquet would be Star Wars, but they weren't prepared for us to come outside and say "hi" to them. We posed for one big group picture before going back in. The scoutmaster said "alright, I need all scouts to go inside and take a seat," to which I
The kids sat, had a short meeting/prayer then came into the kitchen and got food while we stood guard. We helped pass out cake after dinner, then went back outside and let each scout take a picture with us. I brought a spare DL-44 and E-11 for them to hold and pose with us. Back inside, we stood behind the scoutmaster as the scouts did their annual ceremony where they progress thru the levels of scouting (tiger, bear, wolf, weblos). They kept thanking us for being there and everyone said they had a great time. I can't wait to do more of these!
