(NC) June 6-8 Geekout 2014 - Asheville

June 8th and 9th marked the third installment of GeekOut, an annual pop-culture event in Asheville, NC. For 2014 they expanded the event from 1 day to a full weekend, they also added quite a few after parties and remote events to the mix... making it a fun packed weekend. The Carolina Garrison was present along with the Rebel Legion and Mandalorian Mercs and we had a pretty eventful weekend. Sean Coughlin (TI-9014) was helping out with the event and was able to set us up with a great table space in a very high traffic area, so that kept us pretty busy with gusts stopping by to learn more about the 501st. We also hosted a raffle that raised money for St. Judes Children's Hospital. The event had quite a few prize donations from sponsors and we also had several vendors offer up some items, so the raffle was a great success and brought in over $200 for the weekend.

On the second day we hosted a panel that was a general discussion about the 501st and followed it up with a great Q&A session. We were fortunate to have Cheralyn Lambeth (TB-976) there for the panel so she could offer up a fantastic history of the Legion! We also had a nice spread of armor and props available for the discussion, so it was cool to have some hands on items to show off.

Over all is was a great weekend with some great troopers. Thanks to everyone who came out for this!

Thanks Jason, it was a fun weekend! The event also matched the money we raised for St Jude, so that was pretty awesome as well!
