Imperial Guard Build
Hey everyone been wanting to put together a Imperial Guard an stormtrooper costume for awhile and have finally gotten the ball rolling.
Have just purchased a Rubies Imperial guard outfit that the costume will be pieced out pattern wise and a new one built in proper 501st approved material and style, per Force Pike requirements. The helmet will be modified as needed. It will probably be done in the ROTS pattern with the 4 openings. eventually Ill get another helmet and do the Shadow Guard version, but thats down the road. If I can work miracles on the fabric and rebuild I hope its all ready bye DragonCon end of Aug, lol.
Soon Ill also be ordering a stormtrooper kit from either RT-Mod or AP and start putting together ANH stormtrooper. this may be a little longer project as the suits aren't cheap as everyone probably knows. But rather do it once right and spend the money the first time.
Hope to meet people and share knowledge as I try to get everything up to 501st excepted quality. I live outside Charlotte, NC for geographic info.

Re: Imperial Guard Build
thanks everyone an Tom thats sounds great, anytime possibly. Specially if anyones around that does the Guard, would like to talk to anyone whos done the build just for recommendations and possible pattern. I've gone thru Force Pikes threads and got some good info but can be somewhat confusing at times, so seeing approved stuff would be cool if possible and meeting people would be great.

We have only 3 Royal Guards in the garrison at the moment. Two are not close here. The other is near Gastonia.
If you need help several of us sew and give ya pointers and help ya. What are you having "somewhat confusing at times" ?

Re: Imperial Guard Build
The main focus for my guard is the ROTS and how the cloak exactly closes, does it have a clasp of some kind or just drop over the head an all 4 parts are sewn together, I like the 4 opening style for now for the movement factor. Luckily we do CosPlay and MediEval living history and my wife sews and does a lot of other stuff so just detail info an lil hints is needed. Force Pike gives general details but not really detailed pattern info, least that I've discovered so far or I'm just overthinking it and everyone puts the stuff together different to achieve the same look. Also is the Garrison doing anything at DragonCon end of the month, I'll be there and could meet members if theres gonna be a both or anything. I'll wear my Rubies costume there but hope to get the velvet material for my build this weekend and start doing the pattern for the 501st costume soon.

Re: Imperial Guard Build
If you link the post about the pattern/general info that you would like a second eye/opinion . I will be happy to like you know how I would do it.
As for DCon, some of us are going. The 501st as a whole does the parade and a party or two (some CGrs are doing both etc.), but we for the most part the CGrs go to have fun and do the Con thing.
I will be there, hopefully we can get up there and you can meet some of us.

Re: Imperial Guard Build
Yeah man, good luck with the build. One of the Mandalorians here in Charleston was talking about doing a Shadow Guard before the Navy moved him to south GA. Those are some powerful looking costumes. I like that you have some freedom to play with the design of the force pike because, from what I've heard, there's no good reference material on what those actually looked like.
I'll be at DragonCon trying out my new Mandalorian and a fun alteration to my Biker Scout. I'll be in the parade with the G.I. Joe group (because they need the numbers more than the 501st does). Most of us try to wear our 501st badge while walking the floor out of costume, so I'm sure if you see one that says Carolina Garrison, and you say "hi," you'll have an instant friend.

Re: Imperial Guard Build
Looking forward to seeing the progress pics on your guard. I don't think we have any ROTS guards but I do know we have a ROTJ Guard and a few AOTC Guards, one being me. Welcome to the wonderful experience of being a Royal Guard!

Re: Imperial Guard Build
JoAnn's does have it but you have to find enough of it for both the interior lining, your inner robes, obi/sash and then the red for your outer robes. That's the challenge really.
