Greetings from beaufort NC!

Post by goromith »

Hello everyone my name is Jason Griswold I'm 29 and married with a beautiful girl. I am an electrician working here in Beaufort NC and I am a huge Star war nut. I have always wanted to do a stormtrooper from a new hope. I have a ton of questions about a suit of armor I received (stormtrooper ANH). Well my dad started a suit and gave up and gave it to me. Now I need to know if it can be used or if I need a need to go back to the drawing board. Anyways I'm glad to be here and can't wait to chat with you guys and get to know you.

Hello Jason! Do you have any more information about the armor you have received? Any known origin of the maker, plastic type or pictures?

My father bought the suit off of eBay. I know that's a red flag right there lol. Anyways it says it's from a new hope or so he said and is made of thick abs and has a great shine to it. The suit came with a thick book of instructions but no logo or company name? Image

Welcome Jason!

I'm the Regional Rep for your area and although I am not a TK expert we have plenty on our boards. Currently, I'm working on getting us set up for our Third Appearance at Crystal Coast Con for 2015. If you have any questions just let me know...I'm a Royal Guard so I get the cool pointy Staff of Ra. Congrats on your interest in joining the garrison.

Welcome aboard Jason! Looks like an FX suit. The FISD, forum for all things stormtrooper is a great resource as well as folks on here.

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/

I am not completely up to date on the requirements for a TK these days, but I think the following is correct...

The FX is acceptable from the neck down with a few tweaks. (smaller ab buttons comes to mind)
The helmet is "grandfathered" for those who have been accepted into the legion some years ago, but is no longer.
There are many sources for a helmet and can be found on the FISD.
You could probably sell the FX helmet on ebay for around what a new helmet kit would cost.

I am sure others who know more and are more up to date will chime in here.

From the pics you posted, you have a head start by having the armor.

I am currently helping another member working with the same kit. The helmet is a no go. You will need another helmet. As mentioned before whitearmor.net is everything stormtrooper and all the resources are there. Tons of tutorials, links to supplies, and everything else under the sun. The ab buttons do appear to be wrong color and the TD appears to be silver. 501st.com also has the CRLs for the costumes and can provide some help. For a helmet replacement I would look to ATA, email is ataworks@yahoo.com he also makes entire kits but with wait time. Helmet in no assembled and requires some work, you can also look at for sale threads on whitearmor.net and catch something every now and again. In my opinion without knowing what you are working with money wise or have done with this yourself I would try and sell this kit for a more accurate one, just my outside opinion.

Thank u everyone for your responses, I think I'm going to sell the armor and helmet and get a more accurate one. Now that being said what would be the best way to sell it?

As far as selling ebay will probably be the place to do it. You can post it for sale on whitearmor.net as well and see if anyone might be interested there.

Welcome Victoria! Make sure to start a post as well and put in some info such as possible costume ideas or one that you may already be working on!
