There were less vendors this year, but there were some exciting new ones. Smooth-On plastic supplier, Reynolds Advanced Materials was giving away trial size casting and mold-making products (usually over $30) and showing off a wide range of samples to check out. I also found Starlight Gaming, a used video game shop that just opened here in town (where Jeffrey picked up Coleco games for $1 each). The gaming room stayed busy and the charity auction raised $1200 for Wounded Warrior, but most panels were slow from what I saw. There were some great costumers wandering the halls and the costume contest Saturday night packed the main programming room. There was a Mandalorian (in progress) with his daughter as Sabine, who won the Junior costume contest. I also saw a few Jedi there, including a great EP7 Luke Skywalker.
I volunteered my sound system and lights for the main room, but fortunately, the people doing panels in there were very competent and didn't need me to stick around. I only had to really "work" for Valentine Wolf's concert Friday and Saturday nights, so I could spend most of Saturday and Sunday afternoons in costume. Once again, I put up my death star with the help of Taylor Seay, Brian Marchman and a couple of friends. I threw my spare helmets on the display table (ROTJ Vader and ROTJ Boba Fett) with Carolina Garrison sign and all the extra trading cards I had (Jerry, I think I may finally be out of yours!). I expected some table display from Brad Butler representing the Rebel Legion, but he didn't make it to this, so I filled the space with my Mando helmet and a sign for the Mandalorian Mercs Talon Clan.
I represented the Mandalorian Mercs as El Evan MMCC #1151 on Saturday and Biker Scout TB-11110 on Sunday, with the scout uniform on a mannequin all day Friday and Saturday to maintain a 501st presence at our table. We also had Ed and his R2 there along with Jeffrey as ESB Han from the RL.
