Description of Event (Please share as much info as you can):
Cub Scout Pack 28 held it's annual Blue And Gold Dinner to recognize the Webelos Scouts that participated in a Bridging Ceremony as they transitioned to become Boy Scouts in Troop 28. Tiger Cub Scouts along with Wolf, and Bear Cub Scouts also advanced to their next respective rank in the Pack. The theme for this year's banquet was "Star Wars". Scouts participated in a Father and Son Desert Contest, and winners in five different categories were chosen. In addition to their "Golden Spatula" trophies, the five winners were given a 501st Legion themed patch, pulled at random from my old TIE Pilot helmet.
Cub Scout Leader Brian Eason is a huge fan of all things "Star Wars" and he invited us to the Dinner as a surprise to his Scouts and their families. The response from the Cub Scouts and their families was in a word "IMPRESSIVE!"
Prior to the event, Brian Eason and I collaborated on a special static Droid named R2-DYB in honor of the Scout Motto:"Do Your Best". Special thanks must be given to Ken Jordan for working past midnight with me building R2-DYB the night before the dinner the following day. I could not have done it without him!
While no funds were collected for charity at this event, public awareness about the 501st Legion and the Carolina Garrison was greatly enhanced in a very positive way. Several Adult Scout Leaders have expressed an interest in joining our ranks!
