Event idea question

So I am trying to think of a good fundraising idea that would involve the 501st in raising money to help a friend with ALS. I'm trying to think of something we could do in our hometown that would maybe involve a lot of troops and raise a lot of money for his medical expense. Has anyone done something like this before and if so what kind of ideas do you have or do you think we could do?

One of the best ways to raise money is to host a Blast A Trooper or Droid Hunt type of activity at a larger con, that really doesn't help much with wanting to do something locally though. I've also seen people make fund raising patches with the proceeds going to the charitable cause, just keep in mind that it can't say 501st on it if it's being sold to the public. We have some pretty strict Legion merch rules.
