Newspaper article from the Fayetteville Observer: http://www.fayobserver.com/news/local/c ... 97469.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Members of the Carolina Garrison of the Fighting 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, a Star Wars group, talked about their group's activities and their costumes. Jane Willer is a member both of the legion and an affiliated fan group, the Rebel Legion. She was dressed as Luke Skywalker from "Return of the Jedi." Willer, who wore black and sported a pixie haircut that made her look a little like Mark Hamill, said she has been a fan since she saw "Return of the Jedi" with her father as a little girl. "If I could meet Mark Hamill, I'd say, 'thank you,'" she said. The event culminated with a "cosplay runway." One by one, the costumed characters were introduced and struck poses as they paraded in front of a cheering audience.
Bill Lane, a regional representative with the Fighting 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, was dressed as Darth Vader. He said the group, whose members pride themselves on the accuracy of their costumes, has participated in every Librari-Con. They also march in the Fayetteville Christmas parade and do charity events. "I love the fans," Lane said. "The kids, especially, they're not sure what to do. I say, 'Come on, give Darth Vader a high-five.' "
