Description of Event (Please share as much info as you can):
On odd numbered years, SJAFB opens it's doors for the Wings Over Wayne Airshow, featuring the best military and civilian aviators and their aircraft. Over 200,000 people attend the free event. There is a Kid's Zone, static displays, food courts, and 2 days of airshow.

The 501st Carolina Garrison was positioned inside the main entrance hangar so everyone had to go past us to enter and exit. We borrowed Chris Gould's Death Star Wall (Thanks Chris!), debuted several new member's costumes and display pieces, and had a good time trooping the grounds despite temperatures hovering near (or over) 100 degrees. We appeared at the Friday afternoon Kid's Luncheon, the Friday Night Base Party and both days of the show. We also greeted guests as they arrived at the main gate of the base.

TPM characters in front of the Death Star! Blasphemy!

Actually, we roped off the displays and wall because we would have had a line longer than the one to get in and it would have blocked the exit. We kept being told to "move along" by Air Force security inside the hangar for drawing crowds and blocking egress to the "ramp" where all the planes were. We couldn't take 2 steps without a request for a picture. The further we ventured away from the hangar, the longer it took to get back. Similar to the same issues we face at a Con but with 200,000 people.

I never thanked Shanda properly for putting a roof over our heads! This was an epic event! The heat on Saturday was also epic.
I'm glad Sunday was cooler for everyone. Maybe I'll have a Cool Suit to combat the heat in two year's time...I'll bring more #NOTVADER signs too.
