Location:
Best Western Plus Coastline Inn

Description of Event (Please share as much info as you can):
3rd Annual Cape Fear Comic Con. This is a one-day event held at the Coastline Convention Center, downtown Wilmington. The 501st has been invited to have a complimentary double-size booth space and passes for all 501st members.

From their website: Zombies, Superheroes, Ghosts, Fantastic Artists and Writers, Mad Scientists and Fans Set to Converge on Wilmington - August 12, 2017 is the date! Lots of great guests will be present for the Cape Fear Comic Con this coming spring 2017. Just some of these include:
Papa Stro Maestro, Jimmy Boogie Woogie Man Valiant, Phasma Paranormal, Little Spider Creations, Eastern Exotics, Museum of the Bizarre, Legends Comics, DJs Decals, Carolina Caricatures, Gregbo Watson, Alex Smith, Lyle Pollard, Chris McJunkin, Andy Bonesteel and more!

The Con was packed despite morning and afternoon rain. Over 2000 people attended and it was hard to move around. Our booth space was cut in half by the Con staff upon arrival, down to just 10x10, which made Blast-A-Trooper very difficult. We were just inside the entrance so we had everyone go by us at least twice! We made the best of it, staying in costume for over 7 hours! It was exhausting but a very fun day. We were quite popular and received countless compliments. We were featured in several newspaper articles about the Con. Next year's event will be August 25th and will double or triple to available space used for the event, according to Con staff. The 501st will be there!

Did this event support a charity? If yes, which charity?:
YES. The CG raised $100 for Make-A-Wish through donations and Blast-A-Trooper.

Event Length (Hours):
10:00am-6:00pm

I am personally very thankful to all of the troopers that showed up to troop this event and to help us blow Wilmington up with Star Wars nerdiness! The 501st Legion, Carolina Garrison kicked serious A at this very small con, and sent a message to this city to WAKE UP, this stuff is getting serious! I never thought I'd see this in my hometown, and to take the cake, my original inspiration to build my Kylo made the troop too! Cape Fear Stormtrooper! It is so cool seeing all of you characters at these troops. I especially enjoyed the death troopers annoying of Tiara TK, and standing like a statue until a kid walked up, and then moving and talking and watching them run! Ha, twas loads of fun, and I think we made Wilmingtontonians want to come back next year for more. So, from a Wilmingtonian, thank you all for coming! I had a good/hot time.
