In honor of John Williams’ 85th birthday this year, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra kicked off its POPS concert series with some of his most memorable film scores to date. The SOLD OUT evening, in the 1,800-seat Performance Hall within the brand-new Gaillard Center, featured film scores from: Schindler's List, Lincoln, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Superman, E.T., and more.
Of course, the BIG finale featured (5) orchestrations from Star Wars to close out the evening. The Star Wars finale included:
- Across The Stars
- Princess Leia's Theme
- Imperial March
- Yoda's Theme
- Star Wars Main Title
Members of the Carolina Garrison and Blue Ridge Base (Rebel Legion) took the stage alongside the symphony for the finale as well as greeted guests with photo-ops in the main lobby as concert-goers exited for the evening. This was a spectacular evening which celebrated the wonderful music that John Williams has brought to so many great films. We are so thankful for the CSO to invite us to be part of such a wonderful show.
The CSO was gracious enough to give us (2) dressing rooms to accommodate our large group of members as well as our personal armor /gear. They also provided us with a light dinner featuring: catered deli sandwiches, snacks, and drinks to thank us for helping to add magic to the evening.
This was our 2nd appearance with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. All of our members did such a great job during the evening but I would like to give special thanks to CG member, Tom Tilmon, for driving in from Wilmington, NC to portray Kylo Ren for the evening as well as Camille Wish for being our photographer all evening.
