Clone Trooper getting started in Charlotte

Hello everyone! My name is Josh and I'm a huge nerd. Haha I'm a fireman in Charlotte, NC, a veteran, and despite those 'serious' experiences, I remain easy going and mellow.
I've done a myriad of complex cosplays on my own, known a few 501st members, and always wanted to apply but just never had the time until now-I'm considering retiring.
I endeavor to make a Clone Wars phase II, or season 4-7, grunt trooper. Specifically Tup. I would absolutely LOVE it if I got accepted into the 501st to participate with you all after I finish with the kit.
Anyway, hello again, and May Skirata Be With You,
Josh

Thank you so much! I'm gathering approved odds and ends before the big armor purchase from Imperial Surplus. Then I might struggle a bit haha

Welcome! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions during your build. I’ve never built a clone but a lot of the general construction techniques are universal.

Hey Josh! What a coincidence... my name is also Josh, I live in Charlotte, and this is my first day/post on the forums as well! I also am looking to do a clone using an Imperial Surplus kit - from my name you might guess who it is (in a certain drab gray color scheme). The stuff is currently being shipped as we speak... I've done one OSCS movie clone while I was still in college and built an animated Rex back in 2018 which I sold without ever becoming part of the 501st. Like you, I would really like to be able to get involved a bit with the community and fellow members around Charlotte!
Good luck on your build. Are you planning on starting a build thread on the CTD forums? I lurk on there all the time and it's such a great community. If you don't mind me asking, what area do you live near? I know the 501st has a presence in Charlotte but I've only ever pursued this hobby in a vacuum and have never met another person IRL who's built a set of armor before.

Welcome Josh!
I'm also a avid Clone Wars Fan and love the Clone Troopers! I can't wait to see when you finish! And hopefully I'll get a chance to troop with ya some time when you get in as I'm mainly based in the Fort Mill area! But go to school in Anderson, SC

Hi Josh!
That's so cool! I'd LOVE to pick your brain if I could possibly impose on your experience building these kits. I live over in Mint Hill off 485 and Thompson Rd. I'm ordering my imperial surplus kit this week actually, if they are in the shop-I thought I read something to the effect of April being spotty for them-). And as to posting the kit build I hadn't thought about it, this was my first step at trying to get with the 501st

Check out the forum site - it's an incredible resource and community. Whether you post your build or not it can be used to ask questions and get tons of visual advice from pictures/threads posted by other builders. I've stolen several techniques over the years! I particularly recommend the CTD Animated Clones forum section for S4-7 builds.
