July 27 - Ronald McDonald House of Charleston

A little info about the Ronald McDonald House Charities: The Ronald McDonald House is a 27-bedroom home where families stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. Here, parents and children lead a life as normal as possible during their traumatic times without the financial burden of costly hotel and travel expenses. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Medical University of South Carolina provides a sanctuary within the walls of the hospital where family members can rest, read, shower or have a cup of coffee while still being only minutes away from their seriously ill child.
Today was another great troop in Charleston, SC. Although the temperature felt like the surface of Tatooine. 96 degrees with 86% humidity and hardly any breeze. We did our first troop with the local Ronald McDonald House of Charleston. Today celebrated the RMHC's 30th Anniversary as well as a party for past guests of the RMHC. The event went from 12-4pm and boy was it hot. We arrived around 1130 and suited up in a nice air-conditioned room which was very nice. Besides the mighty 501st Legion in attendance, the event had lots of great food, drink, music, local wildlife and even a fun magic show done by Ronald McDonald himself. The RMHC even gave us a box of 20 RotJ Kenner Vintage Collection action figures to give to kids. Needless to say they were gone very quickly. We had a crowd of about 250+. This was also the first official troop of our own Chris Gould.
Troopers that attended this event were:
Jason Boyd (TD-5945)
Ronnie Boyd (TI-19538)
Chris Gould (TB-11110) **on his first deployment**
Here are a few pics...

(The 30th Happy Birthday sign fell down as soon as we stood in front of it)

Is this the droid I was looking for?

Chris found a baby Ewok
