ATOMACON (Nov. 8-10)
Posted: Mon Nov 11, 2013 11:47 am
This weekend was the first ATOMACON here in Charleston, SC. Over the 3-day convention (which was like a scaled down version of ConCarolinas) had many panels, workshops, vendors, fan groups, cosplay and more. In the evenings there were late-night panels, live music and more. I enjoyed hanging around to see Valentine Wolfe play. I would compare them to Victorian Chamber Metal. After speaking w/ the head organizer I'm told that it was a big enough success to do once again next year. It really was a fun time. I headed an hour-long 501st Legion panel (Friday evening) alongside Cher Lambeth, Chris Gould & Brad Lee and made some great new contacts and friends over the weekend. Thank you to Tom Gardner and Jada Hope for traveling to the event.
The official attendance count was 435! Not bad for a first year CON. Even some of the largest CONS that exist now started small
