To celebrate 'May the Fourth Be With You', we organized a little charity event with a small local children's bookstore called Spellbound. The event was to raise donations for the POP Project (http://www.thepopproject.org). Here's a little bit more on the POP Project:

Our main focus is to further the cause of literacy and all the wonderful opportunities that it provides. We believe that making books available to everyone enables people to become more involved citizens, better informed, and lead them to living more fulfilled lives, both privately and in public.

Some of our books go to schools and children. Others go to prisons. We feel that persons behind bars can still be valuable assets to a community, and helping prisoners become more literate is an essential step.

We had a nice turnout of families who participated in games, raffles and, of course, lots of interaction with some of their favorite Star Wars characters. Spellbound was able to raise over $200 in donations for the POP project; I'm glad the Carolina Garrison was able to be a part of it.

After the Spellbound event, we drove (in costume) to Asheville Pizza and Brewing to grab some lunch and photo ops in their awesome Star Wars booths. This turned into quite a bit of excitement when all the lunch patrons were far from expecting Lord Vader and company to arrive hungry for pizza. The staff and guests were thrilled when we arrived.... we took lots of photos, ate lots of pizza and had some good times.

Troopers in Attendance:
1. Anthony Conte TI-28803
2. Sean Coughlin TI-9014
3. Brian Kihlmire SL-5540
4. Jedi Will (Rebel Legion)

Its the Asheville Pizza and Brewery in N. Asheville. It's a pretty cool place!
