(NC) May 10 - Carolina Kidney Walk, Charlotte
Posted: Tue May 13, 2014 5:12 pm
This past Saturday, May 10th, the Carolina Kidney Walk was held in Charlotte, NC @ Freedom Park. They have been doing this walk for charity for several years now, but this was the first year they asked the Carolina Garrison if we could attend. Their request was a little last-minute, and the threat of poor weather made commitment tough for many troopers. But we never let that stop us before, and we were able to gather up a couple of troops to get out for this great cause!
My thanks to the attending troopers/handlers:
1. Jerry Sienkiewicz (Vader)
2. Derek Nieman (Tie Reserve)
3. Ken Jordan Jr. (Biker Scout)
4. Deana "Tig" Pollum (Handler/Photographer)

Here are some of the more "memorable" moments, with captions:
So you're saying the McDonalds is THAT way? I'm dying for some Hash Browns!

The GANG, putting in some good hours for charity, and looking good doing it!

There was a HUGE turnout for the days' events. (YES, all those colored dots are people!)

What do you mean you didn't bring your checkbook?!?!?

A new personal first... this lady's friends asked us to give HER a kiss! (Notice her shirt... LOL)

There were lots of sponsor tents, and luckily, the weather got nothing but better all day.

Either Derek is looking to upgrade, or he's "mixing his metaphors" again!

Event the pooches were happy to see the Carolina Garrison in attendance...

Taking 5...

Our Handler even took a time out for some "therapy"...

Lord Vader said "I'll take my new Kidneys now, please!" Just Kidding - no Vader's were harmed in the making of this picture! The EMT boys just wanted a fun picture while we were there, to make their friends jealous for not working that day.

Our handler, making sure she isn't left out of the picture fun, with a nice selfie!

And of course, the obligatory "buckets off" picture.
