Lord Vader, in his many stops around the Carolinas for Star Wars Reads Day, was able to make a stop off at the Union West Regional Library in Indian Land, NC (just outside of Charlotte, NC), to visit the many excited kids of the area. There were quite a few costumed "staff" and children, all enjoying crafts, building LEGO models, and of course, reading and checking out Star Wars books for their reading and viewing pleasure.
I was only happy to help out this event, as the only trooper in attendance. But despite that, we had a fantastic time sharing our love of the Star Wars universe.
Here is the "thank you letter" I received from the event host:
"Hi, Mark (from the LEGO store) & Jerry (from the Carolina Garrison of the 501st)! Thank you both again for being a part of this big event for our library. Many people said they thought it was better than last year's (and it was!). The final estimate was about 250 people from 1:00 to 3:30 when things began to die off and clean up began. I look forward to partnering with the Lego Store (officially or unofficially) for more programs. Jerry, if you ever want an X-Wing pilot for a wingman, ask and I'll see what I can do. I've already added more to my costume! - John Tompkins"
Troopers in Attendance:
Jerry S - Vader
All the pics from the event were graciously provided by our host, John Tompkins of the Union West Regional Library. (Sorry, no bucket-off shot. Since I had no wrangler to assist me, I only have the photos that were graciously taken FOR me, so I hope you can tell its me
