Greetings and Salutations,

I've finally made my way over here to introduce myself, I've been stuck on the FISD boards reading until at times I thought my eyes were bleeding.
As the title says, I'm from Raeford, NC although I am currently out of town for a little while longer. I'm Active duty military and married. I've lurked around the 501st for years now, every since I saw a news article about the Memphis group and what all they do for St. Judes. I came close to pulling the trigger a few times and ordering a kit, but for whatever reasons I never did. I am glad I didn't since my kit would have come from ebay and that seems to be a bad thing. With the blessing and support of my wife I think I am finally ready to take the plunge since I know where the reputable dealers are now.

I'm looking forward to picking the brains of some of you master craftsmen when the time comes, I can use tools, just not very well. I get the job done, but it's not always pretty. Thanks for reading my ramblings

Hey, I'm in the area also. I am currently awaiting for my kit to come in so this is all new to me also. What brigade are you in if you don't mind me asking.

I'm in 3rd. I think I've settled on a RS kit, and I may pick up one of the Anovos ones that are 350

Welcome! Looks like you are already off to a good start and doing some good homework! Ebay is essential the no go zone for anything 501st costume related, essentially impossible to sift through all the bad to find the little good that might actually reside. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

I appreciate that, I know once I start to do a build I'll have a million questions. I think I'm going to do the commission from RS since I've got the extra money right now and if the Anovos armor pans out I may try to make a sandy with that one, try being the key word in that sentence.

If you do their commission make sure to get excellent measurements, building a kit yourself is also not as bad as it would seem. So if you would like to save the money assembling is not to bad. However their commission would save some time, though some adjustments may be needed for that perfect trooping fit once you get it.

Welcome Shane!

and Austin is right the TK kits are not as to build (little bit like a large model kit)

I just placed my order for the commissioned kit as well as placed an order for the Anovos kit. By the time I get back stateside the RS suit should be waiting for me at the house. Now it's time to start researching electronic bits.

I'm sure we will cross paths at some point, my wife is from Raleigh and her folks live up there so we are up that way a few times a month.

Getting that Big Brown Box at your door is such a great feeling. Good luck with your build.

Since I couldn't actually be there when it was delivered I made my wife hold up each piece so I could see it while we FaceTimed. I think she was less than enthusiastic about the task.
