January 3, Star Wars Night with the Charlotte Checkers

This past January, the Carolina Garrison made its third appearance with the Charlotte Checkers AHL team at Time Warner Arena in Charlotte, bringing a strong Imperial presence to the day's activities! The Empire's finest members in attendance included Darth Vader (Jerry Sienkiewicz/SL21972), Imperial Officer ID8935 (Brandon Hurley), TIE pilot TI6216 (Todd Hoyle), Scout Trooper TB11110 (Chris Gould), and Clone Trooper Blackout (Brian Dudas/CC26257), accompanied by a pesky Tusken Raider (Thomas Gardner/DZ5940), two of our colleagues from the Mandalorian Mercs, and several Rebel sympathizers in the form of Princess Leia (Cher Lambeth/TK976), Padme Amidala (Liz Welsh/DZ11177), Aayla Secura (Kimberly Wills-Starin/SL25684), Obi-Wan Kenobi (Chad Varn), and Jedi Al de la Chica (TA240). Checkers fans were excited to meet and take photos with their favorite Star Wars characters, and close to $1400.00 was raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through the team's special ticket promotion.
