Troops in attendance:
1. Chris Gould (TB)
2. Arthur Myers (TK)
3. Rusty Myers (TK)

This was a weird one because we had so few details going in. The Charleston i5K is a marathon put together by several tech companies to raise money for CODECamp, which is a summercamp for kids to learn about computers. I arrived first, to find out that the Charleston Digital Corridor (our collective of tech businesses in the downtown area) hadn't invited us, but one of the company teams had. Each team had a different theme and Blue Acorn (a web developer for online commerce) had chosen Star Wars as their theme. There was a team of Dr Suess characters and a team Indiana Jones, and a bunch of others. It seemed a little off for us to attend a charity event in support of one company, but I stuck with it. Blue Acorn specifically donated $100 to CODECamp in the name of the Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion.

Arthur and Rusty had to get dressed in the parking lot, and since it was their first official troop, they were a little late, but got to meet and greet everyone before the race started. The Blue Acorn team had purchased a bunch of Rubies costumes, and people who weren't running in the marathon dressed up to cheer, while the runners mostly had their company shirts printed with a Star Wars theme. The "block party" that preceded the run meant everyone was a little drunk at 5 when I got there, but they were all nice and kept offering me drinks that I declined.

The run started at 6pm and I think the last stragglers were finishing around 6:45. We stood at the finish line cheering for all the teams as they crossed. The group then moved to the maritime center (where cruise ships dock) for a bigger party, but we called it a day at that point. I have a buckets off pic on my phone, but it doesn't make us look very good, so let's hope you'll take my word for it that we were there! We didn't have a handler to take pictures, but here's what they sent over.

Definitely an interesting event. I was planning on attending but had to drop out last minute due to work deadlines. Very cool they donated $100 in the name of the Carolina Garrison. Makes it worth it in the end y'know?

Great job troops.

I did ask them to let me know if they are getting rid of the cheap Rubies suits. They still have uses...
