Carolina Garrison

As part of December’s busy tour of Star Wars events, the Carolina Garrison joined forces with the Charlotte Checkers AHL hockey team to bring an Imperial (and Rebel) presence to their Star Wars Night on December 19th in Charlotte NC! Troopers in attendance included Derek Neiman (TI2606), Marcus Walker (TI 30715) )Ken Jordan (TB 1345), Todd Hoyle (TD 6212), Beth Dixon (TK 13502), and Jeremy Pastros (SL 11251 ) as Lord Vader, joined by Jennifer DeVoll (ID 9551) as Rey and Cher Lambeth (TK 976) undercover as Princess Leia. The troops participated in the puck drop, the half-time Zamboni ride, and photo opportunities with hundreds of excited fans, and even had a backstage lightsaber fight with the Checkers’ own mascot, Chubby. The Checkers channeled the Force to defeat the Lake Erie Monsters 4 to 1, cheered on by the troops! It was a great event! I did speak with the Checkers about a contribution to Make-A-Wish, I'll confirm the total with them and let you know ASAP.
