Who's ready for a second round of Hockey? Fresh off the Hurricanes game the Carolina Garrison rolled off the Imperial shuttle to work the Sunday afternoon Fayetteville Fireantz Hockey Star Wars Night game at Crown Coliseum. This was a really fun troop and much more laid back than the Hurricanes. The Blue Ridge Base Rebels were on hand and were instrumental in arranging a lot of the details for this troop, thanks Chad. The Talon Clan Mandos were also well represented with two members present. The requisite buckets off shot and let the dressing room shenanigans begin!

Two unique things that I will remember is the honor of being present for Shanda's first ever troop! Way to go TK11714. Also memorable was the crazy great and tiny Sabine costume Rebel Matt Creech made for his young daughter.

We went out on the ice for the introductions of the players. Dark and slippery, terrifying and fun. NOOOOOO PUCK DROP!!!
No pictures cause....Dark!
The rest of the game was spent greeting arriving fans and patrolling arena.

Or maybe beating down a Jedi!

I can't abide a Star Trek Fan!

This would have been the end of the report if Disney hadn't done something super cool. The night before the troop I saw post on Facebook saying that Disney would be donating $5 to Make A Wish for every photo of someone with Mickey ears posted to social media with the hashtag #shareyourears. If only we knew where to find a bunch o likely victims...participants! I got up the next morning and with the help of an old yardstick and a few paper plates, viola.

We took about 55 pics in all and they are up to be seen and counted to MAW's benefit at the Carolina Garrison's Instagram feed. Instagram; it's not just for the cool kids!
We had charity donations from three different sources at this event. Our donation bowl brought in $37.30, which I donated online to MAW in the name of all three organizations, and matched with a contribution of my own, giving us a total of $74.60. We took 55 pics for #shareyourears resulting in Disney donating an additional $275 to MAW. Finally the team auctioned off a cool Star Wars themed jersey with proceeds to go to a local charity. those details are pending and will be updated as available.

We received confirmation from the Fireantz on 3/2/16 that they had made a $3,900.00 donation to Parkton Volunteer Fire Department as a result of Star Wars night.

If anyone wants to view a bunch of the "Share your Ears" photos from this troop they are posted on the Garrison's Instagram. Just do a search for Carolina_Garrison on Instagram.

Awesome job troops. Great idea with the #Shareyourears. Super exciting that Shanda had her first troop. She must of had a great troop I see she has signed up for more. Once again great job troops.
