(NC) Star Wars Discovery Concert (Winston Salem)

Every year the Winston Salem Symphony does a Discovery concert series for children and their families. This year one of the Concerts was the Star Wars Discovery Concert. This concert featured the music of John Williams that we all know and love. However it also featured songs that inspired John Williams to create these famous pieces of work. A normal crowd for a discovery concert is around 500-600 however once word got out that the Carolina Garrison was going to be in attendance, this concert went to a sell out crowd of 1500 plus, making it their most successful Discovery concert ever. In addition to having the Carolina Garrison on the news the Symphony did an awesome job plugging the Garrison every step of the way. For the concert, We set up the display of the Legion lego diorama commemorating when the legion marched in the 2007 Rose Bowl parade. The symphony had the garrison come on stage for certain songs and interact with the crowds on others. Darth Vader (Jeremy Pastros) force choked the conductor and took over for the "Imperial March". The conductor forgot his music at one point and Kylo Ren (Jerry Sienkiewicz) and the First Order stormtroopers (Brian Dudas and Andrew Rochelle) went on stage to hand him his music. Various members of the garrison came out and walked and interacted with the crowd during the Cantina Band song. All members in attendance came out for the final song which at its completion was met with a stand ovation. This was an awesome troop hopefully we will get to work with the Winston Salem Symphony again.
After the concert the Garrison headed over to Foothills brewery, where we had a private room, for some after troop dinner. Star Wars Discovery Concert presented by the Winston Salem Symphony.
