(TN) Texas Roadhouse Kids Night Fight ALS!
Posted: Fri Jul 08, 2016 11:16 am
Date: July 5th 2016
Location: Texas Roadhouse Johnson City TN
Description of Event (Please share as much info as you can):
On July 5th Texas Roadhouse in Johnson City TN hosted a Star Wars kids night. This was a night where families were invited to come out enjoy great food and meet some of their favorite characters. I was asked if I could attend and of course I said YES! After speaking with the manager we both thought it would be a great way to raise some money for a local charity. The charity we decided to support was Team Wandell. Team Wandell is a local support group for Dr. Josh Wandell. Josh is a close friend of mine as well as my former principal at the school where I teach. In 2013 Josh was diagnosed with ALS and only given 2-5 years to live. Unfortunately insurance does not always cover all of his medical needs so Team Wandell tries to help raise funds as well as ALS awareness. At this event Texas Roadhouse agreed to donate 10% of the profits from that evening to Team Wandell.
Kids had a chance to meet Vader (non 501st) and Chewie as well as R2-D2 who was built by J.J. Jeffers who is a member of the R2 builders club.
It was a great night for everyone and we look forward to doing it again soon!
