Introduction and Weapon Question

Hello! I'm a new recruit out of Fayetteville, NC that will hopefully be joining the 501st very soon. I'm working on an Imperial Staff Officer costume which is (hopefully!) almost complete, just waiting on a belt which I should have within a few weeks.

I'm working on some of the optional accessories for the costume right now, including the blaster. I was wondering how much of a problem having a realistic blaster is? I'm not used to having firearms, and if I read NC state law properly, having a prop gun without a blaze orange tip is legally the same as carrying a proper firearm. NC is an open carry state so that's not too huge I guess, but since I'm completely ignorant about guns in general I was hoping you guys could give me some idea of the pitfalls to watch out for.

I'd hate to take my blaster into a place where it would cause problems, or tick off any police officers, etc.

Looking forward to trooping with you guys, thanks for any advice you can give!

Welcome aboard. Since i live in SC and not NC, i do not know the answer. However, we only bring the blasters where we ask and are allowed. When in doubt, we do not carry them.

Welcome! I look forward to seeing your completed Staff Officer. When we post an event listing (which you currently cant see), it will specify whether or not blasters are allowed. As long as you pay attention to that, you wont have any issues. I wouldn't advise walking around with your blaster outside of organized troops. Good luck!
