New Recruit!

Post by Nubz »

Hi! I'm a new recruit and wondering if anyone has hired a costumer to design and build their costume?

I'd like to get joined up pretty soon so I may do an easier(cheaper) costume to start, then start on a trooper costume of some sort. I'm super nervous about making sure the costume passes muster.

I also have a challenge in my costume, which I think will be cool in the end. I lost my right arm above the elbow about 12 years ago but I'm getting some sweet prosthetics that I think will play into the Star Wars theme impeccably.

Any help and advice would be appreciated. Also if you know of a good costumer or company that would be of help that'd be great too!

I'm really looking forward to this and meeting everyone!

Best,

Nubz

Welcome Eric! Most of us work on our own costumes, but many with the help of members here.

Could you post where you are such that members near you can possibly help?

I have only worked on a TK, but would imagine scanning crew could be a good place to start.

Hello and welcome Eric. As most people do work on their own costumes. But you can have yours commissioned. That's no problem and most of the time even after the commission you have to do some adjusting and refitting to kind of make it your own anyway. Let us know how we can be of assistance. You can private message ,posted on the Forum. Look us up on Facebook .anyway we can help and we will do our best. Glad to have you aboard and looking forward to your ideas.

Thanks so much for the responses! I'm located in Myrtle Beach, SC. I wouldn't mind working on my own costumes but I definitely don't know much about costuming and where to start, which is why I may commission them.

It'd be great to have local help from other members, that may alleviate some of my fears and it'd be cool to meet some members as well.

Thanks for the links too, I appreciate it!

Feel free to look me up on Facebook as well!

Best,

Nubz

Welcome to the CG. There are several simpler costumes that you can start off with and eventually add to them over time to create newer costumes. I did exactly that with my TI Reserve when I first joined.

Even if you go with a "simple" costume...you'll still get in as a 501st member and have all the access and benefits. Then from there you can work on the hard armor.

Some people dive into the armor as their first one. I have made 4 rigs and for my 5th one I'm going simple...with an ANH Scanning Crew
