Shoretrooper build near Raleigh

Hiya! I'm a big Star Wars and Lego fan. I'm usually all about the good guys but after seeing shots from Rogue One I just thought I needed a Shoretrooper set in my life! :)

I live out in Wendell so just a hop, skip and jump to Raleigh.

I have the majority of the shoretrooper armor parts and I started painting and putting it together last week. I've been using the bikerscout forums as a reference so far. I'll hoping to finish for Celebration since I'll be in Orlando that whole week and I have a ticket for Saturday.

Thanks for your time!

Welcome aboard Jason. Looking forward to seeing your build come to life. The Raleigh area is a very active area with great CG members. Many of CG are heading to Celebration as well. Hope to see you there.

Here was my last picture post from my pathfinders build thread. My goal is to wear this to Celebration and I'll be in Orlando the week before so <3 weeks left.

My jimmi helmet all primered up and eyes cut out. Cutting the eyehole was a bit harder since it is fiberglass.

Fresh shoes from Imperial Boots

Everything has been inside sanded and painted with 2 coats black primer and a coat of Sahara Beige. This Montana paint is the best spray paint I've ever worked with. So nice! Not pictured I started painting the other colored pieces. Stupidly painted a mismatched pair so I'll have to paint a red piece sahara beige again! Hmph!

Gloves done. Obviously the armor pieces are more centered when the gloves are on my hands!

Image

Lower arms before painting red/blue/yellow. I glued one edge and used velcro on the other. These were the first pieces I assembled and I used a long strip of velcro when I should have used a couple of smaller pieces. It is industry strength so it holds real well but I may have to change it up in the future.

Image

So I posted before I have mega calves. I checked these when I first got them and it seemed I would have some clearance. As seen here I am even using para cord on the front to give me a bit more width. I tried them tonight with jeans on and I could not get them to fit. I may have to either let out a bit more on the front (although at some point it will be noticeable) or maybe do something with the pants.

Image

I have my shirt and pants BUT they are not a great fit. I'll lay the blame on me because I think I did not do the best job giving measurements (I tried and even had a 2nd person help!). ESPECIALLY in the lower leg area. I plan to get it fixed but now with my lower leg fitment issue I'm wondering if maybe I get a thinner material installed where it is covered by the lower legs. That would help me out a bunch!

I'm trying to finish up for celebration so I have a few weeks left. I'll try to update more often over the coming weeks.

So I busted my butt and it is not approval ready but I had it done enough for SWCO Saturday. I had fun! I had about 50 people take pictures with me and some 501st members complimented me and said I should be in soon enough!

I've been lazy since I got back from Orlando! I need to get to weathering and some final details and get approved. I received my Anovos helmet so I plan on weathering to match that.
