Description of Event:
This is a multi-day, convention hosted by X-Con Comics in Myrtle Beach. This year it was a little smaller than previous years, but still had several tv/film, comic, and cosplay celebrities along with a wide variety of vendors and events.
The costume contest at the end of the day Saturday is always a big deal. This year's winner was a very elaborate 9 foot tall Count Chocula that required 2 helpers to get on stage. The contest participants included an unmasked Darth Vader, a General Greivous, and Rey with BB-8.
The 501st was spread thin this weekend because of the large airshow event in NC. Only three of us could make it out, but we had some support from the Mandalorian Mercs. Attendance of the convention seemed lower than other times we have done this convention, but with a large display of props, we fielded questions about the legion from quite a few interested people.
Did this event support a charity? If yes, which charity?:
The con organizers gave a portion of ticket sales to the Boys and Girls Club and scholarships for students to attend the Vivace Music Festival (for college marching bands)
