Hi all! My name is Tommie Fite and I'm from Morganton, NC (about 30 minutes from Hickory and 90 minutes from Charlotte). I have a Kylo Ren outfit coming that I believe will not only qualify for the 501st, but actually go into at least level two! So, I was wanting to ask you guys a few questions:
1) Have any of you ever used Amazing Stitching from Etsy for your costume? Here is the link-> https://www.etsy.com/shop/AmazingStichi ... eader-name
2) Will the "Black Series" Kylo Ren helmet pass 501st requirements out of the box or will it need to be modded?
3) Do you do "live" 501st costume inspections at locations like conventions or shows? Reason I am asking is that the Asheville Comic Con (May 19th) and Hickory Comic Con (June 2) are both around the corner. I don't think I will be ready by May 19th, but hopefully will be ready by June 2nd. Would any GML's be there to qualify my outfit?
4) My lightsaber is going to be an exclusive Disney Parks saber modded by Pitt Force Five as seen here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjJMdqtAbYE&t=293s
Any comments on the saber? It looks fairly epic to me!
5) I am also following Pitt Force Five's voice changer instructions. I have gotten it set up to sound extremely close to Kylo Ren (It's amazing how close it sounds to the movie) Here is a link for reference -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B-4nuAN_S4&t=2s My question is: It requires a small piece of velcro to be attached to the under tunic. Does that interfere with 501st qualifying? So should I qualify BEFORE I set the voice change system up or will the small piece of velcro be an eliminator?
I think that's all my questions for now, any feedback and info would be great, thanks!

Re: New Kylo Ren incoming!
Hello there! I'm a Kylo from Charleston, SC. I have the TFA (hooded) version. I would recommend getting on the 501st Sith Lords Detachment forums and researching exactly what is need for your costume and paying close attention to the CRL. That being said, here are my answers to your questions. If you have any more, http://forum.501stsithlords.com/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? would be the best place to find out, or feel free to ask here or PM me directly. Hope all this helps.
1) Never heard of Amazing Stitching.
2) The Black Series Would have to be heavily modified. There are some better options out there for not much more money, IMO.
3) All 501st approvals will have to be via photos sent by email. Someone who knows the costume may be able to give pointers in person but they would not be able to approve it at that time.
4) I don't know enough about the Disney Parks saber to say if it's approvable or what PFF would do to mod it.
5) I would get approved and then worry about a voice changer after. Whether it interferes with the costume would depend on which version of the costume you do.
